The CRPF DG admitted to increase in Maoist activities in the districts of Kandhamal and Kalahandi in the state. Mishra was here to review anti-Maoist operations.

“We are aware that there is demand for more forces. You know that our battalions are deployed everywhere. Under the current situation, I can’t visualize sending more forces into Odisha. It is the Ministry of Home Affairs which makes the deployment. The Ministry is examining the proposal of the Odisha government. If the Ministry feels it can shift us from other areas to here, then we will surely come. Apart from this you the Maoists have increased their activities in Boudh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi. For that reason who have deployed some companies in Kalahandi and Kandhmal. We hope the state police and our men will work together and keep a watch on their activities and see to it that their activities drops in that area,” said Mishra, briefing reporters after the review meeting here today.
