Curfew restrictions withdrawn from all areas of Sambalpur town

Sambalpur: In view of the restoration of normalcy in Odisha’s Sambalpur town after the violence during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, curfew restrictions have been lifted from all areas here.

However, the local administration has kept restrictions on meeting and rally in force.

Written permission from district administration will be required to organise such events.

Notably, a motorcycle rally was taken out in the town on April 12 ahead of Hanuman Jayanti. While the rally was passing through Motijharan Square, some persons pelted stones at the participants of the rally.

The incident subsequently led to a clash between two groups. Many shops and vehicles were set on fire during the clash.

Several persons, including police personnel, were injured in the incident.
