Cuttack: Rs 75 lakh seized from ganja peddler’s house; 2 arrested

Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have seized Rs 75.20 lakh from the house of a ganja peddler here and arrested two persons in this connection.

The accused have been identified as Narayan Pati (44) of Jhinkiria, 42 mouza, Cuttack and Abakash Swain (34) of Sumada village under Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur.

According to police sources, Narayan Pati and his friend Abakash Swain were yesterday standing near BSNL Office, Link Road in the city around 8 pm. They were having a bag containing ganja and had planned to sell it to a person.

Acting on a tip-off, the Badambadi police reached the spot, seized the ganja from the possession of the two and arrested the duo.

While searching the house of Narayan Pati, police found cash amounting to Rs 75,20,000, gold ornaments and ganja weighing 20.5 kg.

The Badambadi police have registered a case in this matter and started investigation into the incident.

The accused confessed that he acquired the cash by selling ganja, police sources added.
