Cyclone FANI inches closer to Odisha; CM urges people not to panic

Bhubaneswar: With the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI is inching fast to Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged people not to panic and stay safe during the tropical storm.

“The government is fully prepared to tackle the possible cyclone and each life is precious to us,” Patnaik said.

He appealed to take care of infants, elderly persons and divyangs during the cyclone.

He also said, “Be calm and cooperate with the government.”

The CM also reviewed the preparedness for the Cyclonic storm FANI. Chairing the meeting at the State Secretariat here today, he asked the secretaries of Health, Housing & Urban Development, Rural Development, Works, Energy and Panchayatiraj departments for the quick restoration work for the possible damage after the cyclone.

Patnaik also discussed with the telecom service providers over their preparedness to face the cyclone threat. He directed the officials for uninterrupted telecom services at all types of situation in the State.

He spoke to collectors of Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati and Cuttack over telephone and instructed them to expedite evacuation in the low lying areas ahead of the cyclone.
