Cyclone Gulab: Yellow warning issued for these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued yellow warning for Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khorda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri districts in view of the Cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal.

It predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha. The forecast is valid from 1330 hrs of September 25 to 0830 hrs of September 26.

Red warning has been issued for Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts where heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at one or two places is very likely. The forecast is valid from 0830 hrs of September 26 to 0830 hrs of September 27.

Orange warning has been issued for Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, and Kalahandi districts with forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places.

Yellow Warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, and Nuapada districts.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2021).
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha.

Orange warning (be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places very likely to occur over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Yellow Warning (to be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir and Kalahandi.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea, along and off Odisha, coasts northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal till September 27, 2021.

Replace Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 (LC-3) with Local Warning Signal No-4(LW-4) for Gopalpur and Puri ports and keep Hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 (LC-3) at Paradeep and Dhamara/ Chandbali ports Odisha, the IMD suggested.
