Dacoits kill liquor unit manager, loot cash in Odisha’s Balangir

Manager of a liquor unit was killed and four staffs were injured when a group of dacoits attacked them at Patrapalli in Patnagarh area of Odisha’s Balangir district last night.

The deceased was identified as Nikhilesh Mehta. The injured persons have been admitted to nearby hospital for treatment.

According to reports, a group of 8-10 dacoits barged into the liquoir shop and asked the manager to give them the treasury key. The miscreants attacked the manager with an iron rod as he refused to do so. Other staffs of the shop were also attacked by the robbers as they opposed the act.

The dacoits later broke the treasury and decamped with Rs 1.04 lakh cash, sources said. On being informed about the incident, the owner of the liquor unit rushed to the spot and admitted the injured persons to hospital. The manager died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police have started investigation into the incident.
