Bhubaneswar, Apr 16:
Odisha Unit of BJP today accused Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FSCW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma of taking undue advantage of his governmental position and power for acquiring government land.
Addressing a press conference at the state headquarters here, Vice President Samir Mohanty said that Das Burma has links with several chit fund companies and one of those companies named ‘SLB Media and Entertainment Private Limited’ funded his newspaper ‘Sarbasadharana’.
“Chit fund company SLB Media and Entertainment Private Limited transferred the money required for ‘Sarbasadharana’ to Team Media & Hospitality Private Limited in which Das Burma was a director. Further, Das Burma allotted Satyapriya Jaysingh – the publisher of the Sarbasadharana — a house while he was the Chairman of the Odisha State Housing Board. He also misused his power and helped Sarbasadharana to acquire 500 decimals of IDCO land near infocity area of Bhubaneswar,” accused Mohanty.
“The above facts make it amply clear that the Minister is not only hands in gloves with chit fund companies, but also unduly misused his position to amass wealth and influence. We want this land allotment angle to be investigated. We also demand that he be sacked from the ministry immediately,” he added.
BJD, on the other hand, backed its minister.
“The allegations are imaginary and baseless. The Minister has already made it clear that these allegations are unfounded. I find this behaviour by the opposition extremely unfortunate,” said BJD Spokesperson Dibya Sankar Mishra.
