Phulbani: A newly-married woman left her in-laws' house a day after the wedding as they allegedly demanded a motorcycle in dowry. The incident took place in Baliguda area of Odisha's Kandhamal district.

According to reports, Debaki Digal of Sarupata area under Tumudibandha police limits had married Arjun Digal of Birikia village under Baliguda police limits on June 9.

Next day, some of her family members had come to the groom's house, during which her in-laws demanded a motorcycle as dowry.

Objecting to the matter, Debaki left the place and went to her father's house.

While locals have praised the act of the woman, her in-laws refuted the dowry allegation saying that they only want her to live with them without any dispute.
