Speaking to newsmen, Pradhan said Odisha has catched up fast and reached the level of national average though the pace of registration of DBTL was not very encouraging barely 20 days ago.

“The rate of registration of DBTL in Odisha is 30 per cent against the national average of 40 per cent. It was only 12 per cent 20 days ago. It has picked up well,” Pradhan told reporters after reviewing the progress of DBTL registration with the district collectors, oil marketing agencies, bank managers and others through video conferencing.

I was optimistic about LPG consumers in the state availing subsidy benefits under the scheme by January end, Pradhan added.

During the day, the minister also visited Keonjhar and Balasore districts.

Pradhan said the number of subsidised gas consumers was gradually increasing ahead of the country-wide launch of DBTL scheme from January 1 next year.

Notably, March 31, 2015 has been set as deadline for the implementation of DBTL scheme across the country.
