Rayagada Nov 20:
The dead body of a two-year old wild elephant was discovered in Karamahan Village of Rayagada district of Odisha on Wednesday morning. It is the third case of wild elephant death in Muniguda Forest range of Rayagada this year.
Muniguda VSS, who did the post-mortem, told OST that the jumbo died of septicaemia as per the primary test reports. However, the viscera of the elephant has been sent to the Rayagada dist laboratory. “The final report from the lab, which can put more light on the exact cause of death, is still awaited,” he said.
Forest dept officials have buried the body after filing a station diary in the case.
As per Muniguda forest range officer, 19 elephants which came from Belghar Wildlife Sanctuary in 2012 are still roaming around Muniguda, Ambadal and Raghubari areas.
