‘Dead’ student walks back home !

Deogarh, July 26 :

OST Bureau Report

A youth presumed to have been murdered earlier this month took everybody in his village by surprise when he walked back home in Odisha’s Deogarh district, about a week after police arrested six persons for involvement in his ‘murder’.

Deogarh Police had arrested six persons for the ‘murder’ of Dibyasankar Gartia of Bijayanagar and a student of Gurukul Engineering College, Bhubaneswar.

Dibyasankar’s father had lodged a complaint with Deogarh Police on July 12 after his son did not return home after taking part in feast hosted by his friends in Bijayanagar on July 8. Eight days later, on 16 July, the police spotted an unidentified decomposed body at Phoolpathar and parents of Dibyasankar identified it to be that of Dibyasankar.

The police sent the body for autopsy and later handed it over to the family for the last rites.

On July 17, police registered a murder case on the basis of the complaint of Dibyasankar’s father Joshodhara Gartia and arrested six persons in this connection.

However, on Wednesday night ,Dibyasankar called his father from Bhubaneswar and reached home the next day, hale and hearty. The incident has left the local people wondering why Dibya had not thought it necessary to inform his family before leaving for Bhubaneswar and who was the person whose body was identified as that of Dibyasankar !
