OST Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30:

The state government has directed district collectors to complete enumeration of houses damaged by cyclone and flood by November 10. However, this deadline will not apply to the severely affected districts of Ganjam and Baleswar, official sources said.

With flood waters receding in the affected areas, Revenue and Disaster Management minister SN Patro Tuesday asked district collectors of 11 districts to submit house damage reports by November 10 while fixing November 17 as the deadline for Ganjam and Baleswar districts.

The revenue divisional commissioner, central division has been asked to probe into allegations that official figures for the flood-affected people in the districts of Khurda, Nayagarh and Kendrapara exceeded that of 2011 census data, the minister revealed.

Earlier, based on preliminary estimates the state government has put the number of houses damaged at 4.07 lakh in its supplementary memorandum to the Centre while seeking assistance of Rs 1,590 crore.

At least 13 districts- Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagrh and Puri were hit in the second phase of floods due to heavy rainfall caused by a well marked low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
