Bhubaneswar, Oct 25:
The deep depression over Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm today. However, it would have less impact on Odisha, said Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
“The system recurved last night and currently located about 715 km east-southeast of Gopalpur. After it intensifies into a cyclonic storm, it would initially move west-northwestwards and then west-southwestwards and reach west-central Bay of Bengal,” Sahu said.
“Under its influence, there would be moderate rainfall in coastal and south Odisha on October 27 and 28. Wind speed would be 55-60 kmph during the period,” the weatherman added.
Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) for the cyclone has been replaced by Distant Warning Signal Number Two (DW-II) at all ports in Odisha.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea as the condition would be rough.
