Delhi murder: Sahil killed Sakshi over ‘breakup’, reveals preliminary probe

New Delhi: Sahil, the youth responsible for the murder of 16-year-old girl Sakshi in Delhi’s Rohini area, was reportedly distraught over the victim’s decision to terminate their relationship. According to initial investigations, their lack of communication infuriated Sahil, ultimately leading him to commit a brutal and fatal assault on Sakshi.

Reportedly, Sahil mercilessly stabbed Sakshi over 20 times in a crowded street and also struck her with a cement slab, causing severe injuries. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera, and law enforcement authorities are awaiting the final autopsy report for further insights.

On Monday, the Delhi Police apprehended Sahil in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, after tracing a call from his aunt to his father. As part of their investigation, the police scrutinized security camera footage and interviewed the victim’s family.

“In the course of the investigation, we examined the CCTV footage from the vicinity and spoke with the victim’s family, who informed us that she had been involved with a boy named Sahil. We located Sahil at his residence, but he had already fled,” stated the police, as quoted by PTI.

Following the incident, Sahil had turned off his phone and traveled to his aunt’s house in Bulandshahr by bus.

During questioning, Sahil admitted to being in a relationship with Sakshi since June 2021. Notably, Sakshi had been residing with her friend Neetu for the past 15 days.

The discord between Sahil and Sakshi had escalated, leading to a heated argument the day before the fatal incident. While Sahil desired reconciliation, Sakshi wanted to terminate the relationship.

“She eventually ceased all communication with him and expressed her desire to completely end the relationship, but he persisted in approaching her, hoping for a reunion,” stated a senior police officer, as quoted by PTI.

Furthermore, the police discovered a tattoo on the victim’s hand, bearing the name ‘Praveen.’

The tragic incident occurred when Sakshi was en route to attend a birthday celebration for her friend’s child. Sahil intercepted her and proceeded to inflict multiple stab wounds.
