Dengue cases on rise; free testing at these Govt hospitals in Khordha

Bhubaneswar: With the number of dengue cases continues to rise in Khordha district, Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra today advised people having symptoms of the mosquito-borne disease to visit only Government-run hospitals for testing.

Speaking to mediapersons, the senior health official asked people with symptoms like fever and body ache not to visit private hospitals to undergo a test as they do  not follow the prescribed SOP. Instead, they can visit Government-run hospitals like Capital Hospital, AIIMS, RMRC and Khordha District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for free testing, he added.

The official further informed that total 113 dengue cases have so far been reported in Khordha district since January. Of the total 113 cases, 103 have been reported this month only.

“Dengue mosquitoes breed in clean stagnant water. Hence, water stagnated in different parks are being drained out. People should keep their surroundings clean and make sure that clean water does not accumulate near their houses in places like pots, coolers, discarded tyres and thermocol cups,” the official cautioned.
