While dengue cases have been reported from Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Bhadrak districts in Odisha in the last few weeks, the killer disease has surfaced now in the Ganjam district.
Sources in the department of Microbiology in the MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Brahmapur said nine persons from different parts of the district have been tested dengue positive so far.
However, there is no confirmation from the district Malaria department so far, the sources added.
Of the nine patients, a medical student of VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla, and a native of Brahmapur city have tested positive.
The student, suffering from high fever, was admitted to the MKCG Hospital on August 3 where he was found to have been dengue positive after blood test at the hospital.
The ailing student is now undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in the city, reports said.
