Deogarh bus accident toll reaches 27 in Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 2 lakh as relief to those who have been killed in the tragic Deogarh bus accident of an opera party on Sunday evening.

Twenty-seven bodies belonging to the opera party travelling in the ill fated bus, which  fell off a mountain pass in Tilaebani Gailo ghat in Deogarh district have been recovered by the rescue team today.

The identities of the twenty dead have been identified and post mortem is underway in Deogarh district headquarters hospital .

The state government today announced an relief of Rs 2 lakhs to the family of the deceased and free medical treatment to the injured.

Meanwhile, out of the eleven injured persons who have been rescued have been shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research ( VIMSAR) in Burla for treatment, according to sources.

According to reports, the ill-fated bus carrying at least 38 members of Bharati Gananatya (an opera party) plunged 300 feet from the Tilaebani Gaelo ghat when it was on its way from Deogarh to Remta.

The rescue operation which went on for the whole night was hampered because of hilly terrain and low visibility was completed in the today morning .
