Depression formed over Bengal; Odisha to get more rain in next 24 hours

Odisha is in for some more heavy downpour in the next 24 hours, thanks to the formation of a depression over the Gangetic West Bengal.

monsoon norwesterIn its afternoon bulletin the Bhubaneswar Met Centre has predicted rain /thundershower at most places over Odisha during the next 24 hours and isolated extremely heavy rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over north Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha during this period.

The low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, which lay as a well marked low pressure area over the same region on Sunday evening, moved over to land and concentrated into a Depression today over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood close to Midnapur. It would move westnorthwestwards during next 24 hours, the Met bulletin said.

Gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph, gusting to 65kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast, the bulletin warned and advised fishermen not to venture into the sea.
