Depression over BoB to weaken; Here’s forecast for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu is likely to weaken during next 12 hours. The Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted rainfall for several districts of Odisha.

According to IMD, the Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu coast moved westnorthwestwards and crossed north Tamil Nadu & adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Chennai during 3.00 am-4.00 am today. It lay centered at 5.30 am over north coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood, about 60 km south-southwest of Chennai and 60 km north- northeast of Puducherry. It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area during next 12 hours.

However, Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre issued no warning for Odisha coast under the influence of above system.

The fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.

The MeT predicted rainfall for several districts of Odisha till November 23.

Under impact of Depression, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest districts of South Odisha and dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of North Odisha today and tomorrow.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha during November 20 and 21. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Gajapati during the period.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha during November 21 and 22. Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha during November 22 and 23.

There may be no large change in minimum temperature during next 2-3 days and rise by 2-3 degree Celsius thereafter over the districts of Odisha.
