Depression to weaken, heavy rainfall predicted in several Odisha dists
Bhubaneswar: Even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted weakening of the depression over north Odisha & neighbourhood, it has issued heavy rainfall warning for several districts of Odisha.
“The depression over north Odisha & neighbourhood moved westwards with a speed of about 20 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 0530 hours IST of 08th August, 2018 over north interior Odisha & neighbourhood near latitude 21.70N and longitude 84.50 E, about 50 km close to east of Jharsuguda. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a well marked low pressure area during next 12 hours,” a bulletin of the IMD said.
Under the influence of the system, isolated heavy rainfall likely to occur in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Sonepur and Balangir.
Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) has been kept hoisted at all ports of Odisha.
Squally wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph very likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast during next 24 hours.
Sea condition will be moderate to rough along and off Odisha coast during next 24 hours for which fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.
