DGP reviews security measures in Koraput ahead of polls

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra today laid emphasis on free and fair polls in the Maoist prone Koraput district.

Presiding over a review meeting on the poll preparedness in the district with senior police officials at the district headquarters here, Mishra asked the officials to pay special attention to the safety of the candidates, the voters and ensure tight security in and around the polling booths during the election.

Referring to the Maoists’ call for poll boycott, the DGP said the security personnel have been directed to intensify operation against the left wing ultras to foil their attempt to disrupt the poll process.

Among others, Additional Director General (ADG) of police Sanjib Marik, IG, Soumendra Priyadarshi and IG, South-Western Range Yashwant Jethwa were present at the meeting.
