Dhal Samant brothers refuse to undergo lie-detector test

With noose tightening around the Dhal Samant brothers, the duo today refused to undergo polygraph test while deposing before a local court in Odisha’s Cuttack.

Commissionerate police produced Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant before Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) at his residence this morning after their second phase remand expired today.

After being produced before the magistrate, Dhal Samant brothers refused to undergo polygraph test. The brothers told the magistrate that they are indisposed to undergo the lie-detector test.

Earlier, Dhal Samant brothers’ counsel had told the court that his clients are being pressurised to undergo polygraph test.

Following the deposition, they were sent to Choudwar Circle Jail here.

They will be again produced before the court on Monday where police would seek fresh remand of the brothers for further interrogation.

In a related development, Commissionerate police today arrested one more associate of the Dhal Samant brothers. Police arrested Sangram Routray from Jobra here on charges of tender fixing and having links with the duo. A firearm and six rounds of bullets were seized from his possession. Routray was detained at the local police station last night for his alleged links with Dhal Samant brothers.

It may be recalled that seven more associates of the gangsters have been arrested earlier.
