Dhamnagar NAC Chairperson poll: BJD’s Nibedita Jena emerges victorious

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Nibedita Jena has been elected as the Chairperson of the Dhamnagar Notified Area Council (NAC) in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

Jena got a total of 6026 votes in her favour and defeated her nearest rival BJP’s Puspashree Mohanty who received 4980 votes.

The BJD emerged victorious in nine out of 11 wards of Dhamnagar NAC while the BJP secured the rest two wards.

The counting of votes and declaration of results for all wards of the NAC were held today.

Worth mentioning, repolling had taken place in booth nos. 3, 8, 9, 16, 17, and 18 of Dhamnagar NAC, yesterday.

Voting was halted at these booths during the Odisha Urban Polls-2022 over incidents of violence.

Subsequently, counting of votes for all wards of the NAC for Councillor and Chairperson posts was later postponed by the State Election Commission.
