Dhenkanal Law College Head Clerk caught red-handed taking bribe from student

Dhenkanal: A head clerk of the Dhenkanal Law College fell into trap of Odisha Vigilance for allegedly demanding bribe from a student to issue Law degree certificate.

Odisha Vigilance apprehended Uttam Kumar Rout, Head Clerk of the Dhenkanal Law College, while he was demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 8,500 from a former student of the college to provide him LLB certificate, a release stated today.

According to reports, the accused had earlier demanded Rs 10,000 from the student. Later, he agreed to issue the certificate on payment of Rs 8,500.

The Vigilance recovered entire bribe amount from Rout following arrest.

Also, a team of Vigilance officials carried out search at his residence in Dhenkanal to find out whether the accused had acquired properties, which are disproportionate to his know source of income.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance registered a case under section 7PC Amendment Act, 2018.
