While 38 persons affected with the disease were admitted to the CHC on Sunday night, 15 more have got admitted to the hospital on Monday.

Though the actual reason behind the sudden outbreak of diarrhoea was yet to be ascertained, doctors suspected consumption of contaminated sherbet could be the cause of the infection.

“Consumption of contaminated ‘Pana’ prepared on Mahabisubha Sankranti might have led to the infection,” said Akshay Das Medical Officer of the CHC.
