Diptiranjan lone killer of Bachan Sudha, says Commissioner

Putting to rest all speculations and claims of the son and husband of the murdered Bachansudha Patnaik that more than one person was involved in the murder, Twin city Commissioner of Police Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Tuesday clarified that the arrested security guard Dipti Ranjan Patnaik was the lone accused in the homicide.

Basing on the psychoanalysis report conducted on the accused last week, the Commissioner said “The forensic psychoanalysis assessment report has revealed that Dipti Ranjan was the lone offender in the crime. No one except him is involved in killing Bachansudha Patnaik.”

Notably, the report was submitted to the Commissioner late on Monday night by Dr Asha Srivastav, an expert clinical psychologist with the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Delhi. Dr Srivastav conducted psychoanalysis on Dipti on September 19.

The Commissioner, however, declined to reveal any further information about the analysis and said it will be produced in the court in the course of the trial.

“The report is very confidential. Earlier, we had strong physical evidence that Dipti is the lone accused in the murder and the psychoanalysis report only confirms it,” said the Commissioner.

The police are ready to conduct further scientific tests if needed,the commissioner added.
