District level panels for developing agriculture

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4:

The Odisha government has decided to set up district level committees to expedite execution of schemes and programmes for the development of agriculture and allied sectors in the state.

The committee to be headed by district collectors will have 15 members including NABARD and lead bank officers for smooth execution of different schemes in their areas.

“The committee shall review the progress of schemes and works relating to agriculture and allied sectors every month and submit a report to the concerned departments regarding the progress achieved and identify the bottlenecks in implementation of the schemes and works so that remedial policy measures can be suitable taken,” said agriculture secretary Rajesh Verma.

It is to be noted that the state government had passed a separate agriculture budget and initiated several schemes for growth of agricultural sector in the state.
