Doctor lands in trouble for Facebook comments to woman in Odisha

A case has been registered against a junior doctor working in a premier medical college in Cuttack’s Chauliaganj police station in Odisha  for allegedly harassing a woman on Facebook.

The thirty-one year old woman yesterday filed a written complaint in the police station alleging that the doctor was constantly sending messages and commenting on her status messages which were causing her mental torture.

The accused is a junior doctor working in the surgery ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The woman a resident of Aparna Nagar area has left her husband due to some family problems. She had befriended the doctor in Facebook seven to eight months ago.

There was no communication between the two, but all of a sudden for the last few days the medico has started posting comments on her status and posts relating to her past, she has alleged.

The woman has said that after she deleted the comments he started  messaging her on the social networking site about her estrangement with her husband. She has added that these comments have lead to mental stress and also affected her social life.

He had also messaged his mobile number to call her, she has alleged.

On the other hand, the doctor has said that the comments were just friendly advice and there is nothing objectionable in them. He added that the woman had asked him about a blood donation camp, therefore, he had passed on his number to her.

Meanwhile, the police have called the doctor for questioning at the Chauliaganj police station, today.
