Don’t miss: Odia rap video ‘Bou’ is out and we are silently grateful to all moms!

Bhubaneswar: Odia rapper Samir Rishu Mohanty released his music video ‘Bou’, a tribute to all mothers, a few hours ago, today. He had uploaded the teaser of the same project on his social media handles a few days ago.

In an exclusive chat with Odisha Sun Times, this Puri lad, popularly known as Big Deal said, “I have been blessed with two mothers: One who gave me birth and the other who raised me. I am very close to both of them and I have seen to what extent mothers can go for happiness and well being of their children. The dedication, commitment, love and care of mothers are unparalleled.”

This 4-minute-long video has been entirely shot in Bengaluru and the lyrics are in Odia. It took Samir and his team two months to compose the song, create the video story, scout for locations, finalise characters and be done with post-production. “Odia is my beloved mother tongue and this video is a special project for my Odia fanbase,” he added.

This video chronicles the sacrifices a mother makes while children take her for granted, at times, peppered with Samir’s memories of his own mother.

After ‘Bou’, he has a string of English music video releases and another project with Odisha Tourism, slated for launch in two months.

Samir caught the attention of netizens of Odisha after rapping two lines in Odia in his single ‘One Kid With A Dream’ in January last year.

He has been performing since last three years and has an impressive record of performing with renowned rap artist Blaaze (in MTV Sync) and Hard Kaur (for the American cable television network Vh1). He has also worked with Sneha Khanwalker and sung Bach Ke Bakshy in the Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.

His last rap video ‘Mu Heli Odia’, where he talks about everything quintessentially Odia (from Lord Jagannath to Madhubabu and from pakhala to rasagolla), garnered major response on all social media platforms with its catchy hook line.
