Don’t share your COVID vaccination certificate on social media: Odisha police

Cuttack: As cyber fraudsters are on the prowl in Odisha, the Cuttack police has cautioned people not to share their certificate of COVID-19 vaccination on social media.

The police said “Your personal information and some secret data used in the QR code in the certificate can help fraudsters cheat you.”

In view of the rising cases of cyber fraud in the state, the Twin City Commissionerate Police cautions the public time to time not to share their bank details, Aadhaar number or any other personal information with unknown persons to protect themselves from being trapped by fraudsters.

Earlier, the CP informed that a whopping Rs 1.40 crore was defrauded from people by cyber fraudsters in the month of May.

“Cyber fraudsters have duped people of Rs 1, 40,09,469 in May as against Rs 1,19,63,297 in April. Of the total Rs 1.40 crore, Rs 70,78, 714 has been defrauded from people in Bhubaneswar alone. Total 17 cyber crime cases were registered during in May,” said a statement issued by the CP.
