In a letter to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena and All India Congress Committee (AICC), the former minister and Bhogarai MLA said the ongoing intra-party feud and the highhandedness of the state party leadership forced her to quit the Congress.

She has indicated that she could return to the BJD. “I will return home. After all, we had formed the BJD,” she told OTV over phone.

Dr Das, who was the Health and Family Welfare minister in Naveen Patnaik’s first term as Chief Minister from 2000, had to leave the cabinet – and the party – soon after that under the ‘shadow of corruption’.
