Drunk man killed by mother, brother in Odisha; body buried

Balasore: A man in an inebriated state was allegedly killed by his mother and elder brother at Taharpur village under Bahanaga block of Odisha’s Balasore district while the accused duo buried the body inside the house.

The incident took place on February 12 and came to fore yesterday as the Soro police arrested the mother-son duo.

According to reports, deceased Balaram Jena (24), who was a driver by profession, returned home on that day around 11 pm after consuming liquor. Later, a heated exchange of words took place between Balaram and his mother Sukuri Jena (55) over an issue.

The matter turned ugly as the woman and her elder son Jagabandhu (32) attacked Balaram with a crowbar and thrashed him to death on the spot. To evade trouble, the two buried the body inside a room of the house.

Police have apprehended the accused duo while further investigation was underway. Balaram is survived by his wife and three-year-old daughter.
