Bhubaneswar, Apr 23:

Hundreds of depositors from Brahmapur in Odisha, who have been duped by a chit fund company called the Green India Multistate Cooperative Society Limited, gheraoed the office of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch here today, demanding the arrest of the owner of the company.

The depositors, who protested under the banner of ‘Aarthik Sansthamananka Dwara Kshatigrasthanka Milita Mancha (ASDKMM),  alleged that the police had failed to take any action against the company’s staff and executives who were roaming around freely.

“The police and administration have joined hands with them and that explains why they are not taking any action,” alleged a protestor.

“We want our money back. The police should immediately seize the property of Green India and arrest  the owner Pradeep Singh and the two CEOs Sunil Kumar Panda and Trinath Panda,” said Prashant Kumar Sahu one of the investors, adding, that the police have so far avoided raiding the head and branch offices of the company.

A couple of days ago,  some of the investors had approached the local police to lodge a complaint against the company but they were later threatened by the company officials along with  some goons,  the protesting  investors alleged.

They met the Crime Branch Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Pattnaik and submitted a written complaint in the matter, said the ASDKMM state convener Jayant Das.

” People will take to violent means  if the accused persons are not arrested within one week”, he warned.
