Duranto Express derails in Odisha’s Jajpur

Bhubaneswar: Two front wheels of high capacity parcel van of Yasvantpur-Howrah Duranto Express derailed while passing through Haridaspur Railway Station in Jajpur district today.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said derailment of the wheels, which took place at 11.14 am today, affected the coach next to the engine. However, no injury or causality was reported in the incident.

All passenger coaches will be connected with another engine and be sent to the destination. The incident will not affect movement of train services of Kharagpur-Bhubaneswar mainline, the ECoR said in an official statement.

“Restoration of the affected coaches will be done with immediate effect. Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road along with high level officials team reached the spot to take stock,” the statement read.
