e-Mulakat facility launched at these Odisha jails

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government launched the online mulakats at Bhubaneswar jail and Choudwar jail in Cuttack on pilot basis today. The Prisons Directorate in a statement said as many as six persons availed the online mulakat facility at Bhubaneswar jail on the day of its launch.

The statement added the e-mulakat facility will be started at all district jails and circle jails from August 15, 2021. Subsequently the facility will be extended to sub-jails. Each jail has been provided with a laptop exclusively for the purpose.

Following steps are required to be followed for registration for e-mulakat

Step 1: Open Google Chrome or any search engine/browser

Step 2: Search NPIP in the search box

Step 3: Click on New visit registration option

Step 4: Fill up the details of the visitor and the persons you want to meet in the box provided. Select video/virtual conferencing mode

Step 5: Submit the details after entering the captcha

Step 6: Enter the OTP which you will receive in the mobile and email provided at the time of registration

Step 7: Check your inbox and note down the VisRN number

Step 8: Keep checking your email, you will receive email from the prisons mail ID detailing about date and time for the e-mulakat. Click on the link provided in that mail and enter the a) VisRN number, b) Room key and c) OTP which will come in your mail box

Step 9: Click on join meeting, keep your microphone and camera in functional mode.
