Earthquake felt in several parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A moderate earthquake was felt in several parts of Odisha in the evening today, the Met said.

The earthquake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale with its epicentre at Hoogly district in West Bengal, was also felt in Balasore, Baripada, Anandpur in Keonhjar and few other places in north Odisha at 6.33 p.m. on Tuesday, said H.R. Biswas, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Many people came running out of their homes screaming soon after they felt the tremor. However, no casualty or property loss has been reported so far.

Notably, a mild earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale was felt in several parts of Odisha in the wee hours on August 09.
