‘Eco-friendly’ Berhampur University: VC asks students, employees to avoid personal vehicles on Saturdays

Berhampur: The Vice-Chancellor of the Berhampur University here in Odisha’s Ganjam district has come up with an ‘eco-friendly’ and unique initiative.

In a bid to make the varsity campus pollution-free, the official has advised the students and employees of the educational institution not to bring their personal vehicles to the premises on Saturdays. However, bringing e-vehicles to the campus has been encouraged.

“The Vice-Chancellor has been pleased to take an initiative to make the campus pollution free and to encourage zero emission at least one day per week. Hence, all employees (both teaching and non-teaching) and students are requested to avoid using personal vehicles, bikes, scooters etc. inside the campus on every Saturday,” an order issued by the Vice-Chancellor said.

This apart, the university employees have been directed to wear khadi clothes during office hours on Fridays to create awareness for “nationality/ patriotism/ unity and integrity” among the staffers.
