Egg attack on Odisha Health Minister: Two police officials suspended

Cuttack/Deogarh, Jan 6:

The Odisha government today suspended Deogarh Police Station IIC and DSI of the piloting vehicle of the minister’s carcade in connection with the incident of pelting of eggs on the vehicle of Health & Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.

While Deogarh IIC Sudarshan Jena has been suspended by Director General of Police (DGP) K B Singh, DSI of the minister’s piloting vehicle Narayan Sahu has been suspended by Deogarh district collector, official sources said.

Both have been suspended on grounds of dereliction of duty, the sources added.

On the other hand, police have arrested six Congress workers including the party’s Deogarh Town Committee president Subash Bhoi and Deogarh Municipality councilor Dharmendra Debata on charges of pelting eggs and tomatoes on the Health & Family Welfare Minister’s car.

It may be mentioned here that Congress workers had pelted eggs and tomatoes at the Health & Family Welfare Minister’s car near Kurudi while he was going to Deogarh after completing an official tour of Sambalpur district.
