As per the notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat today after the approval by the Governor, the monsoon session will have eight working days and conclude on September 29.

Earlier, the monsoon session was slated to begin from September 7 and conclude on September 21. However, the session was postponed due to protest from Opposition in view of western Odisha’s famous agrarian festival Nuakhai.

The monsoon session of the Assembly is likely to be stormy as Opposition parties would raise the issue of Dana Majhi carrying his wife’s body on shoulders reflecting the deteriorating health infrastructure in the state, Mahanadi water dispute issue, Kandhamal firings, attack on Union Minister Santosh Gangwar in Bargarh among other issues.
