Ekamra park closed, apartment declared containment zone in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sealed Ekamra Kanan Botanical Garden here for violation of COVID-19 guidelines and declared an apartment as containment zone.

A squad of the BMC closed the park after receiving complaints of overcrowding and violation of COVID safety norms.

Besides, a block of Gymkhana Palm Heights apartment near SUM Hospital was declared containment zone after several positive cases were detected in the block.

“The decision was taken in larger public interest and with a view to contain the spread of the virus,” said BMC.

The containment order says:

No public shall be allowed to move into the containment zone and the inhabitants within the containment zone shall not move out.
All the inhabitants within the containment zone shall strictly remain in home. All the shopping establishment of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately.
All the Govt and private Institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone is hereby closed forthwith.
BMC will supply essentials and ensure medical requirements for the inhabitants in the containment zone.
