Sambalpur: A 50-year-old woman of Gahirapali village under Gadaloisingha Panchayat in Sambalpur district was critically injured after a wild bear attacked her in wee hours today.
However, the elderly woman identified as Sabitri Patel was later admitted to a hospital in Jujumara area for treatment.
Sources said Sabitri had gone to a nearby forest along with fellow villagers to pluck Kendu leaves at around 5 am today. While he was collecting the Kendu leaves, a wild bear pounced on her leaving her critically injured.
The co-villagers, who were present on the spot, came to her rescue and rushed her to a hospital. Her condition was stated to be stable.
