Elevator cable snaps at 3rd floor in Odisha hotel; 2 critical

Rayagada: Due to mechanical failure, two persons were critically injured after an elevator cable snapped at third floor of a newly-built hotel at MI Division Road here today.

As per reports, a hotel named Sai Niladri was inaugurated at MI Division Road this morning. At around 3 PM, when two staff of the hotel used the elevator, its cables snapped at third floor leaving the duo critically injured.

The two injured- waiter Chittaranjan Maharana and captain Sheikh Shakir Hussein- were rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here. Later, Shiekh Hussein was shifted to Visakhapatnam after his condition deteriorated.
