Employees of RIT stage protest over pending wages

Rourkela: Demanding immediate payment of arrears of two years, more than 80 employees of Rourkela Institute of Technology (RIT) today gheraoed the institute’s Secretary and former MLA Prabhat Mohapatra.

“Though RIT’s staff launched agitation earlier demanding release of pending salary, authorities of the institute paid no heed to the request,” a protesting employee said.

The former MLA assured the agitators to look into the matter, but they did not join work and left the institute’s city office.

More than 100 employees work at RIT. However, the authorities have not been paying salary to more than 80 employees whereas remaining staff are getting meager salary, said another agitator.
