Engineering student found dead in city, murder suspected

Bhubaneswar, Apr 26:

A 22-year-old engineering student was  found dead under mysterious circumstances today in a spot close to his college located near Pradhan Sahi Chhack under Air Field police limits.

Tapas Bag, a second year student pursuing his degree course from a private engineering college here, is believed to have died late on Friday night . But his body was recovered this afternoon after some students  spotted it and informed the college authorities.

The deceased hailed from Titlagarh and used to stay in the college hostel, Airfield police said.

Inspector-in-charge of Airfield police station R R Sahu revealed that Bag had not returned to the hostel till late night and today his body was found lying near a brick and stone heap outside the  boundary wall of the college.

He said Bag’s friends suspect he had been murdered.

Though no weapon was recovered from the spot, the deceased had sustained  injuries in his head and body.

Bag’s family also suspect it to be a case of murder, sources said.

Bag’s body was taken to the Capital Hospital for an autopsy.

“We have already registered an unnatural death case and after we receive the autopsy report we will proceed with our investigations accordingly” the IIC said.
