Enough seeds for kharif, Centre assures Odisha

Union minister of state for Agriculture and Food Processing, Dr Sanjib Kumar Ballia today informed the Lok Sabha that the Centre has a stock of 8,14,298 quintals of certified kharif seeds for Odisha, 92,570 quintals more than its requirement (7,21,728 quintals).

Announcing this while replying to a question, he said there is more than the required stock of seeds for paddy, maize, bazra, barley and millet (ragi) cultivation.

Besides, for pulses cultivation, barring moth bean, caapi and rice bean seeds, the Centre has excess stock of seeds of other remaining pulses. In addition to these, there is also adequate stock of groundnut seeds, he added.
