Ensure adequate power back up for hosps, vaccine cold chain: ACS to districts

Bhubaneswar: In view of possible Cyclone Yaas over Bay of Bengal, the Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra today directed District Collectors, CDMOs and PHOs to ensure adequate power back up for all hospitals, labs, vaccine cold chain and oxygen generation units other supportive medical facilities.

Mohapatra further stated availability of water, electricity and fuel for the health facilities in the districts/areas likely to be affected shall be ensured. Alternate fuel supply with adequate fuel and DG sots at may be kept in readiness.

The district administrations were also asked to identify Nodal Officers for district as well as at block level for continuous monitoring and supervision. Share their names designation and contact number with the State Control Room.

Functioning of Control room to operate on 24×7 basis at district & block level to coordinate with the district level officials, State level departments and SRC office for disaster response activities.

Mohapatra directed the district administrations to prepare a detailed plan of action regarding operation of the Control Room with name, designation, and line and mobile number of the officers managing the control room to be shared with the district level line department offices as well as SRC office

He also directed the administrations to prepare Contingency plan for opening of Medical Relief Centres as early as possible. Special emphasis be given for providing health services in cut off and low lying areas.

The Additional Chief Secretary also issued an SOP for COVID management during Cyclone and flood situation.
