Bhubaneswar, Sep 20:

The commissionerate police has clamped restriction on the entry of heavy vehicles into the Twin City from September 21.

No heavy vehicles carrying goods would be allowed to enter Bhubaneswar and Cuttack from 6 am to 10 pm. These vehicles, however, would be allowed to ply along the bypass, a notification issued on Thursday said.

As per the notification, heavy vehicles coming from Khordha would be diverted from Pitapalli Square through the bypass to the Trisulia Square via Barang. From there, they would catch the NH-42 at Manguli Square via Sapneswar, Radhamadhavpur and Choudwar.

Heavy vehicles coming from the other side  would be diverted from Manguli Square at NH-5 from where they would move through Choudwar, Radhamadhavpur, Sapneswar, Trishulia, Barang and reach the NH-5 after crossing the bypass and reaching Pitapalli.

“Violation of the order would result in the penalty amounting to Rs 500-Rs 1000 under Section 93 of the Odisha Urban Police Rules, 2003,” said police commissioner Dr RP Sharma.

It may be mentioned that though an order to this effect was issued in 2010 during the tenure of the then police commissioner BK Sharma, it could not be implemented after his transfer.
