Entry of people from Ganjam and Jajpur to Angul banned

Angul: Taking preventive measure to contain further spread of novel coronavirus in Angul, the district authorities banned entry of people from two COVID-19 hotspot districts — Ganjam and Jajpur — to Angul district.

Exercising power conferred under Section 34(b) & (c) of National Disaster Management Act-2005, Angul Collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty banned entry of people of Ganjam and Jajpur districts to Angul.

“If anyone from Ganjam and Jajpur districts comes to this district on some compelling ground, he/she shall be kept in institutional quarantine for a period of 14 days,” the order issued by Angul Collectorate stated.

The order came into force with immediate effect and it will supersede all previous orders.

Giving valid reason for imposing restriction on people of two hotspot districts to visit Angul, the order stated, “It is noticed that people coming from Ganjam and Jajpur districts are mostly found COVID-19 positive and they are spreading it to others. So it is quite essential to take strict measures to curb the spread of the disease in this district.”

Any person violating the above order shall be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act-2005. Besides, legal action will be taken against the violator under section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions as applicable, Angul Collector said.
