EOW probing Sahara real estate deals in Odisha

Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Bhubaneswar, Mar 2:

With the spotlight firmly on Sahara India after the arrest of its head Subroto Roy, the Odisha government is now busy collecting information on any dubious real estate business the company may have transacted in the state.

Sources in the Finance department said the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the state police had been asked to find out if there have been any such transactions by Sahara in the state.

Sahara, it may be noted, has three real estate projects in the state: Sahara City Homes and Sahara City Homes-Grace in Bhubaneswar and Sahara City Homes in Berhampur.

The government’s probe into the affairs of Sahara comes after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) wrote to several state governments, including Odisha, to furnish details of properties worth Rs 5 crore or more transferred by Sahara Group concerns between April 1, 2008 and December 31, 2013.
