According to a press release issued this evening by the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), road communication has been restored in almost all the affected areas of southern districts in the state. The government expects return of normalcy in these areas soon, it said.

The SRC claimed that about 80,000 thatched houses have been damaged due to cyclone Hudhud.

It said that even though rainfall is continuing in many parts of the state, there is no threat of flood in the state as the water is flowing below the danger level.

Meanwhile, the state government has decided to submit a memorandum to Centre requesting urgent assistance to deal with the situation.
